Damon Pierce.

A name that sent chills down my spine. The notorious Alpha-to-be of the Opal Pack. He was here, greeting our teacher with a million-dollar smile plastered on his face. He was a huge, good-looking guy, and I could see girls fanning themselves as ogled him. He screamed confidence and power, just like Marcus did. And it was no wonder with their pack’s pasts.

I snuck a peek over at Marcus, and he was stone-faced while he watched the exchange of polite formalities between the teacher and Damon. I couldn’t read him, but when he looked over at me, everything around me was gone and I was lost in the deep pools of his gray thunderous eyes.

I could stay like that forever, but then reality came back crashing into me when I heard Tyson whisper in my ear.

“Will you go out with me after we’re all settled in our cabins?”

“I-I…” I tried to respond, but I was caught off guard.

“I just want to give you something, nothing more. Please?” His eyes were pleading with me, and I felt Marcus’s intense gaze on us.

When I looked at him, I saw a raging fire in his eyes and his fists were closed tightly at his sides.

I swallowed and tried to think of something—anything—to say. As I opened my mouth, Mandy jumped next to me, pushing Tyson to the side and squeezing between us. She smiled at Tyson and turned to me and said, “I found out that we’re sharing a cabin.” She squealed with excitement.

Feeling thankful for the interruption, even though I could clearly see a scowl on Tyson’s face, I smiled and we jumped happily, feeling excited to share the same sleeping space.

When I glanced at Tyson, I saw him scowling at Marcus, and when I looked over at Marcus, he was smirking at Tyson. If I wasn’t in the middle of this situation, I was sure I would find it funny the way they were both acting competitive and silly.

Finally, the teacher read the list and gave us the keys to our appointed cabins. I was lucky enough that I shared mine with all of my best friends. James was in the cabin next to ours with Tyler, Max, and Tyson. I was grateful to know that my brother and his friends would be close by.

But luck was not fully on my side, as the cabin on the other side of mine was where none other than Samantha and her goons would be staying.

After we all got our keys, we went to our cabins to unpack. Our schedule and rules were posted on the wall for us to see the moment we entered the cabin.

It was a beautiful cozy log cabin with an interior that contained four bunk beds with colorful quilts and large cushions. On one side of the wall, there was a dresser and a closet. Above the dresser was a mirror and a cozy chair placed in the corner of the room with a floor lamp at its side near the window.
